UPCOMING
PROGRAMS July 31: Nila Wilhelm, Shoes for Orphan’s Souls JUNE PROJECTS On Saturday,
June 7 and Saturday, June 14, we participated in demolition of interior structures
of the new Allen Community Outreach facility in preparation for installation
of new walls. P.D. Thomas coordinated
the project. On the
afternoon of Monday, June 24, the club will host youth from CITY House to a
Roughriders baseball game in Frisco.
It has become an annual event for the club to provide tickets and
treats and accompany the kids to a game.
Dan Bowman is coordinating the project. We sold drinks
at the annual Allen USA Celebration event on Saturday, June 28. Larry Nordgaard coordinated the project. JULY PROJECTS We will be
contributing shoes to the Shoes For Orphan Souls program. Members should bring shoes or financial
contributions to regular club meetings. 2008 GOLF
TOURNAMENT Our Annual
golf tournament will be on October 9 at the Twin Creeks Golf Club starting at
1:00. This is a major fundraiser for

CELEBRATION Our club
celebrated our 20th anniversary at a reception on Friday, February
8, at the Prima Pasta restaurant in Allen.

MEETINGS Key Club meetings
are held every Thursday at the Allen High School library at 5:00 pm. All Kiwanis members are invited to attend
the meetings to show our support. The
Key Club is the recipient of our largest annual financial contribution. RECYCLE
KIWANIS MAGAZINES Members should
bring their Kiwanis magazine to a
club meeting and deposit it in the box provided. The magazines will be placed in the waiting
rooms of physicians and other businesses in the Allen area to inform people
about Kiwanis and our club. FLAG PROGRAM Our club
places large American flags in front of homes and businesses on six patriotic
holidays a year for a $50 donation.

BACKGROUND CHECKS In order to volunteer
in any way at the Allen schools, a Criminal Background Check (CBC) is
required. It is a very
simple process and can be done on line. Go to
http://ahsweb.allenisd.org/appentry/ and fill out the application. ALLEN KIWANIS

club name & logo on them can be ordered now. These shirts
