JANUARY PROJECTS

A Kids Against Hunger packaging event will be held January 28 at Austin College in Sherman.  Those who signed up will meet at the American National Bank at 9:00 for the trip.  Colleen Biggerstaff is coordinating the event.

 

DECEMBER PROJECTS

200 books were collected and delivered to Early Childhood Intervention for their Christmas party.  The books were wrapped by CKI and Key Club members.

 

GUEST DAY FEBRUARY 23

Our club meeting on Feb 23 has been designated Guest Day.  All members are to provide the name and contact information of friends and acquaintances to David Olson who will send a personal invitation to them for the meeting.  

 

THE CIRCUS IS COMING

For the 12th year, we will be hosting the Carson & Barnes circus.  It will be held March 23, 24 and 25.  This is our largest fund raiser of the year.  All members need to participate in some role.  Shawn Wade is coordinating this event.

 

TEXAS – OKLAHOMA  DISTRICT MID-WINTER CONFERENCE

The Mid-Winter Conference will be held at the Marriott in Irving, TX February 10-11.  With the event so nearby, members are encouraged to attend at least the Saturday activities.  CLICK HERE to register for the conference.

 

.ALLEN HS KEY CKUB

Our club sponsors the highly successful Allen High School Key Club.  This year we have over 230 members.  They meet every Thursday at 4:00 in the High School Library.  Club members are encouraged to attend.  Colleen Biggerstaff is the coordinator.

 

UTD CIRCLE K CLUB

The Circle K club at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD),  sponsored by our club, meets at 6:00 PM every other Wednesday. Everyone is encouraged to attend.  To find out the location of their meeting, contact the club at: Circlekutd@gmail.com.

 

BRING ON THE FLAGS

Flag Chair Gary Davies announced recently that a $10 commission will be paid to any of your family or friends that sign up a new flag customer.    Remember to consider business locations as well as homes.

Our club places large American flags in front of homes and businesses on six patriotic holidays a year for a $50 donation.  Click here for additional information.

 

KIDS AGAINST HUNGER PROJECT

A major ongoing project of our club is the packaging of special dehydrated nutritious meals for malnourished children and families in a remote region of Honduras.  Over 400,000 meals have been packaged and shipped by our club.  To learn more about this project, contact Sharon Brian or click HERE.

 

RECYCLE KIWANIS MAGAZINES

Members should bring their Kiwanis magazine to a club meeting and deposit it in the box provided.  The magazines will be placed in the waiting rooms of physicians and other businesses in the Allen area to inform people about Kiwanis and our club.

 

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETINGS

Our Board meets on the second Tuesday of every month, 12:00 noon, at the American National Bank, 720 S. Greenville Ave. in Allen.  All members are welcome to attend. 

 

AISD BACKGROUND CHECKS

In order to volunteer in any way at the Allen schools, a Criminal Background Check (CBC) is required. 

It is a very simple process and can be done on line.  Click HERE to access the application.  Fill it out and get a reply in just a couple of days.

 

ALLEN KIWANIS SHIRTS
